Slowork Publishing Epidemic Anthology Calls for Applications

2. The theme of the anthology

Disrupted by the Covid-19 epidemic, the world we are living in seems to be left with uncertainty. How will tomorrow arrive? Standing at the starting point of long-term changes, how can we imagine the distant future?

Slowork is expected to launch a new anthology "White Tomorrow" this year, which will include the epidemic inspired short comics that are categorized in the two book series "Newave '' and "Neworld". This project is the first attempt of our "irregular special publications'' that respond to ongoing issues. The "Newave '' series will include stories that need to be seen and pondered deeper through documentary comics, while the "Neworld" series will explore the infinite possibilities of the near-future based authentic experiences.

3. Call for Applications

We are calling for 4 page-long short comics that each can fit into the book series "Newave" and "Neworld” in our new issue "White Tomorrow".

NEWAVE｜1 x 4 pages

From 2019 till now, have you ever felt that "this is the beginning of long-term changes" and "the world will be different from now on"? Please share with us your most profound experience since the epidemic.

NEWORLD｜1 x 4 pages

Our definition of the “New World” series is an imagination of the near future that is based on current reality. Please "pre-record" the future after the epidemic in a prophetic/anticipatory way.

4. Restrictions:

1) We welcome contributors of any age, nationality, individual or group.

2) The author needs to hold the complete copyright of the work and ensure that the content is free of plagiarism and infringement.

3) Unlimited number of submissions

5. Prize:

1) Winners (one each from New World and New Wave): 6,000 NTD（about 216 USD) bonus + free to choose three Slowork publications.

2) Best shortlisted works (the exact number will be listed in the final announcement): free to choose one Slowork publication.

6. Attention:

1) The size of the publication is 19 x 26 cm.

2) No coloring restriction.

3) The publication is a left-turn book, the reading order is left to right, and the text should be written in horizontal format.

4) The first page should start from the right and include the story title.

5) "Dialog + text" and "artwork" should be separated into two layers.

6) Later editing will add English/Mandarin translation, please reserve space for the dialog bubbles.

7) Please provide 300dpi: jpg/pdf/psd file (hand-drawn artwork must be scanned in advance), the file must be uploaded to the Google form.

We will select one comic each for the two book series, and the possibility that the prize not awarded is reserved.
